WHO WE ARE
Farm Journal Foundation is dedicated to achieving global food security by sustaining modern agriculture's leadership role and ability to meet the vital needs of a growing population. Our mission is to bring together stakeholders from across the agricultural spectrum – including students, farmers, industry leaders, and policymakers – to create tangible solutions to some of the biggest challenges facing the food and agricultural value chain today.
We operate as an independent, nonpartisan and nonprofit organization, with a range of interconnected programs that fall under three umbrellas: thought leadership, education, and issue engagement.
WHAT WE DO
THOUGHT LEADERSHIP
Starting at the ground level, our work is built on peer-reviewed research that supports strong, fact-based positions. We write and commission research papers on policy issues ranging from global food security's impact on U.S. national security, to how global agricultural development programs can support U.S. trade. We build on this research through speaking events, op-eds, coalitions with industry leaders, and more.
EDUCATION
Farm Journal Foundation works to educate students and consumers about agriculture’s role in feeding our growing world. Our Voice of the Farmer Garden program offers visitors hands-on opportunities to learn about agriculture's important role in our country's food security, culture, and economic growth. Our educational initiatives also include e-learning materials, interactive videos, interviews with farmers, and classroom teaching guides.
ISSUE ENGAGEMENT
Farm Journal Foundation's Farmer Ambassador program enables farmers from across the country to engage with federal policymakers on important issues. Farmer Ambassadors hold meetings in Washington D.C., and in their home states, often on farm tours and demonstrations of agricultural research facilities. In addition, Farm Journal Foundation regularly hosts policy briefings and learning sessions on Capitol Hill, and our Farmer Ambassadors and staff participate in speaking engagements nationwide.
