WASHINGTON, D.C. (Aug. 4, 2025) – Farm Journal Foundation is launching a new partnership with the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) to bring its Voice of the Farmer Garden exhibit to USDA’s headquarters on the National Mall in Washington, D.C.
The new interactive learning space, launched in time for National Farmers Market Week on Aug. 3-9, will be a permanent outdoor exhibition where visitors can learn about American agriculture’s contribution to U.S. food security, national security, culture, economic growth, and more. The garden will feature a wide variety of crops grown in America, as well as informative signage and a mobile phone walking tour with videos of farmers telling the story of agriculture in their own voices.
“Agriculture is a vital part of our economy and culture, but today, more and more consumers are removed from the farm,” said Tricia Beal, CEO of Farm Journal Foundation. “The Voice of the Farmer Garden will enable visitors to learn about where their food, fuel, and fiber comes from, and to gain an appreciation for the hard work, dedication, and passion that goes into every step of the agricultural supply chain.”
The Voice of the Farmer Garden exhibition is located at the USDA People’s Garden at USDA’s headquarters on the National Mall, near the Smithsonian Metro stop on 12th Street. The garden will be open year-round, enabling visitors to see and learn about agriculture throughout every phase of the crop cycle.
Farm Journal Foundation, which previously managed the garden space at USDA from 2018-2021, is proud to be returning to the National Mall. The Foundation expects to create a range of new content and host events in the garden in 2026, coinciding with 250th anniversary celebrations of American Independence in Washington, D.C.
Farm Journal Foundation is currently seeking partners to join in this effort. Organizations, commodity groups, businesses, and anyone else interested in becoming a garden partner can get in touch by emailing fjf@farmjournalfoundation.org.
